Democrats: Don’t screw up. Please.

This morning I woke up feeling like a heavy weight had been lifted from my chest. I am actually letting myself feel some hope again! I am so heartened and relieved that I was not the only one out there feeling a seething anger towards this administration or longing for a dramatic change in direction. The American people made it very clear with this election. Now my worry is whether this president will even get that this was a mandate for change. And I believe it is a very legitimate worry since he has been the most oblivious, bull-headed, and resolute-in-all-the-wrong-ways man I have ever seen.

Democrats, you have a huge job ahead of you. Are you up to it? God I hope so. I just don’t know if I can take being profoundly let down again by my government. I hope and pray that the Democrats taking charge understand the magnitude of the American people’s foul mood. We are hungry for a change in course, our expectations are high, and we are impatient. It isn’t going to be easy.

Please Nancy, Harry, and all of the rest of you Democrats, please, please don’t let us down. It will just be too devastating after the grueling six years we have just endured.

And then once you get things back on the right track, do you think you could work on taking back a few vocabulary words hijacked by the “Party of misplaced sanctimony”? Here are a few to start with: Family, Christian, Values, Patriot, Strength, Freedom, and Security. These seem to be some of the more distorted and mangled ones. I hope you can save them because as it stands now, they have an uncanny ability to produce a pavlovian shutter in many people. And something tells me if you can rehabilitate those words, you won’t even have to worry about the word “Liberal”, it will magically fix itself.

Thank you, good luck, and welcome back from the wilderness!
