My mother will not have to have surgery. She is responding to the medications she is on and the bleeding has stopped. The hematoma has gotten a little bit smaller. And even though the Neurosurgeon called the change subtle, he was happy with the general trend and the fact that even that subtle change was enough to relieve a good deal of pressure on the brain. It is going to take time, and lots of hard work, but my mother will recover.
