Heinz and the not-so-traditional family

Via Andrew:

And of course, this got a lot of fundies’ panties in a twist. Can’t be showing no families that don’t fit their mold now… Share

It appears that YouTube pulled the video. Possibly for copyright infringement or something? (If so, it was silly of Heinz to protest, as it was free advertising for them.)

To be honest, I didn't feel it was a very good commercial. It took me a couple times of watching the video (yeah, I saw it before it was pulled) to get the catch (i.e. that the guy making the sandwiches was patterned after your stereotypical New York deli worker).

Of course, that now leaves me wondering if New York deli workers will organize to protest the suggestion that they're all gay. But I'm just perverse like that. ;)

Also, this report indicates that Heinz pulled the ad from the air as of last Friday and apologized for it. How unfortunate!

I never saw it and wish I had.

Truth wins out has the original video as well as Wayne Besen's response here: http://www.truthwinsout.org/blog/truth-wins-out-says-heinz-made-unwise-move-by-pulling-gay-tolerant-ad/.

I think it's hilarious that I've heard two different people saying "what does mayonnaise have to do with gay people?". Like, um, maybe some of us eat mayonnaise too?
