Most Americans incorrectly think that this problem has already been solved. A 2013 HuffPost/YouGov poll found that 69 percent of Americans think that firing people for being gay is illegal.So any protections that get through in these behind-the-times states comes from the more progressive cities within them, though sadly my city, Scottsdale, is not one of them. So imagine my delight when I saw this in our paper this morning:
Thank you Joanie! At this point just informing people of this injustice is probably one of our best weapons. But putting a fire under the fanny of some of these city councils is probably not a bad idea either and Joanie just did both.
