Question: How does a rising GOP star in Arizona Anti-Immigrant Politics sink his career?

Answer:

Piss off his secret "illegal-alien" gay lover by threatening to deport him if he exposes their affair:

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu — who became the face of Arizona border security nationally after he started stridently opposing illegal immigration — threatened his Mexican ex-lover with deportation when the man refused to promise never to disclose their years-long relationship, the former boyfriend and his lawyer tell New Times.

Now as someone who has a gay son, my heart does go out to this poor tormented soul. The closet is a toxic and suffocating place to be, but for the life of me, I cannot understand anyone choosing to be a member of a Party that bases their platform on extreme hatred of any and all minorities, with gays and Mexicans being at the top of the list. So my sympathy is tempered with a whole lot of disgust for this man.

How on earth could he have thought he could play this game and run for Congress and not get caught. Maybe he didn't realize how quickly his star was going to rise once he jumped into the "Be very afraid of the brown people" game:

Alas - yet another tragic ending for a deeply closeted, self-loathing, GOP hypocrite. When will they learn?

Oh and one more thing: Apparently Sheriff Babeu was the Arizona co-chair for Mitt Romney's Presidential campaign , but is stepping down for um more time with the family? Ahhhhhh the ripple affect of pure unadulterated schadenfreude.
