Dear Mike Huckabee

After watching a short excerpt from a CNN interview you did with John King earlier today, I spent the rest of the day trying to wrap my mind around the obvious hatred and disgust you have for a large segment of people in this country, one of whom happens to be my son. I cannot describe to you how deeply offensive and hurtful it was to watch you defend your very backward views on gay marriage and gay parenting. I sat there in stunned silence as you called gay marriage and gay parenting a "social experiment". And as if that wasn't enough you went on to say that it would be years before we'd know if "our little guinea pigs turn out to be good at marriage and parenthood".

You don't sugarcoat it - do you Huck? You really hate those homos, don't you? GUINEA PIGS Mr. Huckabee? Really? Way to dehumanize those nasty gays, Mr. good Christian. I guess those gay people aren't really God's children in your eyes, are they?

And what blows my mind is there is not a scintilla of doubt in your mind. You probably don't spend even a fleeting moment wondering if you could possibly be wrong. I cannot imagine being so absolutely sure that a whole segment of the world's population is so evil that you have no problem going on national t.v. and saying the things you did in your interview with John King today. There are no gray areas in your world Mr. Huckabee - are there? Just black and white. No doubts whatsoever. Gays are evil. End of story. Don't like it? Tough shit.

Except...

You forget that for each gay and lesbian you've dehumanized and demonized and referred to as Guinea Pigs, there is a mother, and a father, and in many cases, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, friends, co-workers, classmates, neighbors, and others, who know those guinea pigs, as you refer to them, as their precious sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, neices, nephews grandchildren, friends, co-workers, classmates, neighbors, ect. They are not guinea pigs to us, they are not evil, they are our children. And they are every bit as worthy of dignity, respect, and full equality as your children are.

As a mom, married for 29 years to an amazing man, with three children that we love so much our hearts hurt, hearing your hateful, ugly words and realizing that it is one of our beloved children you are attacking in that interview made me want to lunge at the screen and go for your testicles. You are NOT a Christian Mr. Huckabee, you are a fraud with a heart made of stone. You are NOT presidential material Mr. Huckabee, you are simple-minded bigot who uses twisted, 3rd grade interpretations of the bible to justify your ignorance and hate. You can act like the good-ole-southern boy next door all you want. You can use that smooth as snake oil voice until you go hoarse. But beneath the charming aw-shucks hillbilly exterior, you are still an ignorant, mean bigot.

You did get one thing right when talking to John King in that interview though. You said gays and lesbians will take offense to virtually everything you say about gay marriage, gay parenting, and gays in general, but what I think you foolishly don't seem to get is that there are millions of people who have remained silent all these years as hateful, sanctimonious asses like you have spewed your ugly bile about our children. You may not be worried about what those nasty evil homos think of you Huck, but you damn well better start worrying about the millions of people who love them. Those are the people you will live to regret pushing to their limits.

We are sick of your nasty attacks on our kids. We are sick of you dedicating your life to making their lives miserable. We are sick of you pushing so many of them to the streets to fend for themselves because you've convinced their families their children are evil. We are horrified at the number of children you have pushed to kill themselves because you've convinced them they are evil. We are filled with gut-eating rage that you have dedicated your life to making sure our kids will never have the same rights your own children have. And we are repulsed that you have done so much evil and called this being a good Christian.

Visit a PFLAG meeting some time Mr. Huck. Meet the people whose children you think nothing of hurting. Feel the profound pain and seething anger in the room. People like you are not looked upon kindly. And why would you be? You have hurt our children deeply. You have hurt us more. And we will do everything humanly possible to make sure you are never, ever president of this country. You are the one who is not worthy of dignity or respect. And I for one will spend the rest of my life making sure you don't get it.

Sincerely,
Seething Mom

P.S. About that social experiment you mentioned in the interview... Looks like we don't have to wait years to see the results. Seems "our little guinea pigs" are pretty damn good at marriage and parenthood. I know this is hard for you to process, but gays and lesbians have been raising kids forever and they are pretty damn excellent at it. Take a look for yourself and you decide how that scary social experiment is going:

This momma sends a big fat wet kiss to German lawyers Christian Sailer and Gert-Joachim Hetzel

Finally! There are people taking action against Pope Benedict XVI for crimes against humanity and their names are Christian Sailer and Gert-Joachim Hetzel:

Their charges concern “three worldwide crimes which until now have not been denounced . . . (as) the traditional reverence toward ‘ecclesiastical authority’ has clouded the sense of right and wrong”.

They claim the Pope “is responsible for the preservation and leadership of a worldwide totalitarian regime of coercion which subjugates its members with terrifying and health-endangering threats”.

They allege he is also responsible for “the adherence to a fatal forbiddance of the use of condoms, even when the danger of HIV-Aids infection exists” and for “the establishment and maintenance of a worldwide system of cover-up of the sexual crimes committed by Catholic priests and their preferential treatment, which aids and abets ever new crimes”.

I agree with Joe on this one:

Sounds like all those Catholic leaders in America who've been obsessing about same-sex marriage should start worrying about the crimes committed by their boss. And, instead of spending money to fight marriage in states like California, Maine and Maryland, they better start collecting for the Pope's Legal Defense Fund.

Ahhhhh feel the warm, soothing, love of a so-called good Christian and a possible 2012 presidential candidate

Confronting Gingrich on his Family and Christian Values hypocrisy

I guess it takes a college student at the University of Pennsylvania to confront Newt Gingrich on his mind-blowing hypocrisy. This guy has three marriages under his belt, affairs behind the backs of two of his beloved spouses, and was the ringleader on the impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton for a blowjob, but Mr. Gingrich thinks he has the moral high ground to deny gays the opportunity to even marry once. You see, he worries those nasty gays would destroy the sanctity of marriage.

What an arrogant, hypocritical jerk:

"You adamantly oppose gay rights... but you've also been married three times and admitted to having an affair with your current wife while you were still married to your second," Isabel Friedman, president of the Penn Democrats, asked Gingrich after a speech at the University of Pennsylvania, according to Politico. "As a successful politician who's considering running for president, who would set the bar for moral conduct and be the voice of the American people, how do you reconcile this hypocritical interpretation of the religious values that you so vigorously defend?"

I am not sure why the Republicans think their strategy is a winner but what do I know?

I saw this wonderful picture over at Balloon Juice and I simply couldn't resist borrowing it. I just gotta wonder what the sam-hell the Republicans think they are accomplishing by playing thugs on steroids. When you lose people like this gentleman below, I think the strategy should probably be re-thought (is that a word??). But never-the-less, I too want to welcome this guy aboard and assure him that he will certainly be in good company.

I defend the Mormons no more continued

Another wonderful YouTube clip that simply must be shared, if for no other reason that to remake the point that there are many beautiful people who call themselves Mormon. Now the leadership? That's another story altogether.

I defend the Mormons no more

There are a lot of Mormons in Arizona, so there is a high probability that if you live in this state at least one or more of your neighbors will probably be Mormon. And that was the case in our old neighborhood as well.

I've gotten to know a lot of Mormons throughout the years and I can say with complete sincerity that they have been some of the nicest people I have ever known. It was probably the biggest reason I was always one of the first to fiercely defend the religion when others would make fun or out and out attack it. I simply would not tolerate people making disparaging remarks about the religion in my presence.

But never again shall I step forward and defend the Mormon Church.

Ever since the Mormon religious leaders in Utah got themselves so hugely embroiled in California's Prop 8 battle, a ballot measure banning same-sex marriage, by supporting it with huge amounts of money and manpower, any respect I might have had for the Church has turned to sheer loathing.

Now that is not to say that I believe all Mormons are horrible people -- they certainly are not, but the Mormon church leaders are a different story. So it is actually quite a relief to learn that there is a website called I am an ex Mormon. Seems there is no shortage of people who used to call themselves Mormon who have come to see the church in a different light as well.

Iowa grandmother speaks in favor of gay marriage

I'm with Joe on this one, you really do want to give this dear woman a big hug and sit down for some warm cookies. But for me it goes even deeper, she is a mom who has a gay child, just like me, and just like millions of other parents around the country. I just love that she decided to channel her seething anger into this great video and post it to the world. And did I mention that she's 80? Hell, that took some kind of courage. She's a true hero in my book. We need more moms (and dads) getting pissed as hell and letting people know they are no longer going to stand by and watch these opportunistic politicians and fake family advocate groups use our precious gay children for political gain and profit.

Rachel Maddow - The Murder Of David Kato

Rachael weighs in with a well documented piece on the David Kato murder. The clip is a must-see as it is filled with a lot of incriminating facts that should make those here in this country whose actions helped create the environment that guaranteed Mr. Kato's murder squirm. And who, you ask, might that be? Why --- our very own home-grown homophobic, hateful, American Evangelicals - that's who:

My previous posts on the David Kato murder are here and here.

Looks like John Boehner may actually have something to cry about after all

Via JMG:

Well, well, well, what have we here?

Another sanctimonious "good Christian" who believes so much in the sanctity of marriage that he voted YES on Constitutionally defining marriage as one-man-one-woman in July of 2006 may be caught up in a desanctifying moment in his very own, very sanctified, very straight, man-woman marriage.

Oh ironies of ironies. Yet another GOP hypocrite. Surprise, surprise.

Well Johnny, if this turns out to be true, have no fear. If Senator Diaper Dave Vitter can survive his extra-marital scandal and the exposure of his poopy diaper fetishes and still get re-elected in a deep red, god-fearing, bible-belt state like Louisiana, then you boinking a couple of ladies on the side shouldn't hurt you much - just as long as you keep up the fight against those nasty gays and lesbians.

Hang in there boy. It's tough keeping the Republican Party in first place when it comes to hypocrisy and putrid behavior, but with you at the helm of the House Republicans, I think your position is safe -- even if monogamous GOP marriages are not.
