I seethe NOT because my son is gay. I seethe because he lives in a country in which some elected officials find it politically advantageous to deny him dignity, basic rights, and protections. I seethe because there are people who preach hatred and discrimination towards gays yet claim to be "good" and "loving" Christians. I seethe because there are groups who claim to be "advocates" for the family but who work to do great harm to any family that doesn’t fit their narrow template for “normal”.

You may not cheer at a lynching or think you are a racist, but if you voted for trump, you just bought some rope and looked the other way.
Yes, I have been ignoring this blog for quite some time, and it is taking every last ounce of energy I have to post something right now. And no, I cannot take credit for the title of this post, that goes to Tess Rafferty and the clip included below.
I am so horrified, distraught, and filled with seething rage, I can barely string more than a few words together and make some sense. This election has left me in such despair that I can barely function. So I will not post much past this paragraph, but I will rely on two amazing women and one amazing man who have done a good job expressing what I cannot right now.
This first is a post by Betty Cracker. She wrote it at 4:45am the morning after the election. I imagine she was fueled by the same rage, despair, and lack of sleep most of us felt that tragic day after. But her rant is epic and pretty much captured everything I think many people were feeling that morning as well. Here is a taste (but please go read the whole thing):
First, a hearty FUCK YOU to every single person who voted for Trump, all 57,518,551 or so of you. Even if you don’t consider yourselves stone-cold racist, misogynist pricks like the president-elect, you’re as bad as he is. If you were stupid enough to believe that your vote “sent a message,” you’re right: By voting for that degenerate demagogue, you’ve displayed such depraved indifference to the fate of women, immigrants, people of color, people with disabilities, etc., that you’re now an honorary member of the Klan. So, put that fucking hood on, asshole. The second is a NY Times Op-Ed by Charles Blow. It too captures the intense emotions so many of us feel about this monster, donald trump, and the fact that he is going to be the next President of the United States. I am posting two snippets, but please go read the entire article:
And now let me introduce you to Tess Rafferty, someone I just happened to stumble upon in my post-election haze. She too, captured the essence of everything I am feeling. And I want to share her wisdom with you all as well. Watch and enjoy:
