I seethe NOT because my son is gay. I seethe because he lives in a country in which some elected officials find it politically advantageous to deny him dignity, basic rights, and protections. I seethe because there are people who preach hatred and discrimination towards gays yet claim to be "good" and "loving" Christians. I seethe because there are groups who claim to be "advocates" for the family but who work to do great harm to any family that doesn’t fit their narrow template for “normal”.

Dan Savage pokes big holes in the Religious Rights' "Re-defining marriage" argument
Dan is right in many ways, but what if gay people are changing marriage? Or, if we're not doing it intentionally, what if allowing same-sex couples to marry redefines marriage? Dan's argument still holds - marriage has, over the centuries, been constantly redefined. So, actually, (us) homos getting married might change marriage, but so what? Seems like a weak argument to deny access to the institution to me. The question regarding whether we homos should want same sex marriage - should we want to assimilate into hetero culture and institutions a better one...
