I seethe NOT because my son is gay. I seethe because he lives in a country in which some elected officials find it politically advantageous to deny him dignity, basic rights, and protections. I seethe because there are people who preach hatred and discrimination towards gays yet claim to be "good" and "loving" Christians. I seethe because there are groups who claim to be "advocates" for the family but who work to do great harm to any family that doesn’t fit their narrow template for “normal”.

Sorry about the total lack of posting
And I can't promise it will get any better any time soon. We are spending the summer in Seattle with our kids and I guess the much-needed break from Arizona's right-wing crazy has left me with a total lack of desire to wade into the swamp and write about all the hate and ugliness going on right now. It is so nice to be in a progressive city and away from it all, but it really makes me realize just how on steroids the Republican Party is right now. One need only look at the total transformation of John McCain into an ugly, hateful man who has abandoned all the principles he once held near and dear to understand what it takes to remain a Republican in good standing today.
