I wish this It Gets Better project had been around when my own son was struggling, alone and scared to death, with a secret he considered so big and dangerous that it literally dictated that his entire childhood be all about keeping it from being discovered. It shouldn't have to so frightening to come out and be who you are, but sadly, for many children it still is. Let's hope Dan Savage's hopeful message that it does get better is reaching these children.
