CORPORATE AMERICA GETS IT

I got an email from the Human Rights Campaign today with news about a great trend in Corporate America. The headline reads:

NEW REPORT SHOWS CORPORATE AMERICA INCREASINGLY COMPETING TO BE THE MOST GAY-FRIENDLY

Industry Trends Show Fierce Competition; Benefits Ranging from Domestic Partner Health Plans to Transgender Protections

It is really nice to know that Corporate America understands the value that their GLBT employees bring to the workplace. The HRC report can be found here.

This really is wonderful news, but as Pam has already noted there will be people who will be none too happy about this:

The fundies will most definitely come out, guns blazing, at this news, out of sheer frustration. While our government, which is supposed to represent us, drags its feet on civil equality and fairness, corporate America is the one venue where equality for LGBT citizens has been on a constant, positive trajector
She goes on to say that the growth is notable:

138 major U.S. companies earned HRC's highest rating of 100 percent, up from 101 in 2005. Over four years the overall growth is tenfold, despite constant pressure tactics from the AmTaliban forces such as Don Wildmon's American Family Association.

Who knew? Corporations don't judge their employees worth by sexual orientation, but rather by the quality of their contribution to the workplace. Oh boy this is going to be a bitter pill to swallow for those who believe otherwise. It’s a sad day for homophobes everywhere.
