A new poll on the senatorial race in
I am trying not to allow myself to get too excited about this yet, but boy is it hard. I suppose there is still time before the November elections for Senator Santorum to rebound, but at this point it isn’t looking too likely. Although I suppose if anyone can pull off a miracle, it should be him since he is one of God’s chosen few. But barring the miracle, it looks like Righteous Ricky is soon gonna be nothing more than a really bad memory. And that is going to be one very joyful day for this seething mom.
Oh Senator Santorum I have been waiting so long to do this and even at the risk of jinxing things, I just cannot hold my tongue any longer. I want to be one of the first to bid you good bye and good riddance. I want to thank you for giving this seething mom hope for the first time in 5 ½ years that America has had its fill of pious little hypocrites like you. I want to congratulate you for taking first place in the contest to say the most despicable, vile, and repulsive things and then artfully passing it off as God’s Word. I must say you’ve got that down to a science an art form. And I want to begrudgingly give you credit for baptizing me and my husband into the deep, dark, and ugly world of hate and homophobia within days of learning that one of our beloved children was gay. As searingly painful as that was, it was necessary. It was absolutely imperative that we learn quickly just how despicable some people are towards those that do not meet their rigid standards for perfection. And you were the best guy from whom to learn that nasty little lesson. And lastly I want to thank you for opening my eyes to how many self-righteous, little men like you there are. I had no idea so many people like you actually existed. But I needed to know what I was up against and you helped me discover the cold hard truth. Now this is going to sound a little bizarre, but I am grateful to you for one more thing. You have no idea how comforting it was when I finally realized that it was people like you who consider my son an abomination. You really helped me put everything into perspective. You have helped me through this very difficult period in my life. With your help, I am finally at peace with my son's sexual orientation. And I now believe that it is all part of God's plan. Now how about that for unintended consequences?

Hi Seething Mom,
I thought I would pass this along to you. I pray not only for my own sexual sins, I pray for all my brother's and sister's as well. I truely believe, the beast of sexual sin, is devoring many of God's children. We must not hold our brokeness up before a Holy Holy Holy God, as holy in our own right! I hope you take the time to read and consider the following..
A Christian friend of mine once said, "The greatest deception is to believe you cannot be deceived."
Perhaps you should read the following. It dispels the myth that the "gay-behavior affirming" churches attempt to put forth that the sin of Sodom was only about "inhospitality."
Volume II Issue #8 AUGUST, 2003
The Days Of Lot
"Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed." Luke 17:28-30
While I am painfully aware that this month's commentary is not without controversy, I have struggled long and hard with how to present it. Unfortunately, there is just no other way than to just get it out. If you are offended by it, then good. I hope that you will search the Scriptures to see if these things are so (Acts 17:11). Now that I have your attention, let me just say that I am going to do my best to expose this darkness, but share the love and mercy of Christ as well. I am also going to use a lot of Scripture, as the Holy Spirit needs to be able to do His job through the understanding of His Word.
The story of Abraham and Lot should be familiar to everyone, however I will refresh your memory on the details. Lot was Abraham's nephew and they had left Ur together in search of the Promised Land. Because God had prospered them both with huge herds of cattle and flocks of sheep, the land began to be too small for their needs. At that point they agreed to separate and each find room for their herds, flocks and families. Abraham let Lot choose first and he chose the plain of Sodom to dwell in. As time would go on, it would become apparent that Lot had made a poor choice.
The Bible does not have a lot to say about Sodom other than that it was very wicked.
Genesis 18:20-21
" And the LORD said, "Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave,
21 I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know."
We aren't told just what this grievous sin is until the next chapter...
Genesis 19...
1 Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground.
2 And he said, "Here now, my lords, please turn in to your servant's house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way."
And they said, "No, but we will spend the night in the open square."
3 But he insisted strongly; so they turned in to him and entered his house. Then he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.
4 Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house.
5 And they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally."
6 So Lot went out to them through the doorway, shut the door behind him,
7 and said, "Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly!
8 See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof."
9 And they said, "Stand back!" Then they said, "This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them." So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.
10 But the men reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.
11 And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they became weary trying to find the door.
As I said, the Bible doesn't say much about Sodom, but what it does say is loud and clear. There are days worth of study in this passage friends.
Why was Lot sitting at the gate? This signified his high position on the city council. Lot was tolerant of the rampant sin in the city.
What an apt picture of our day and age friends. This is our first clue to why Jesus pointed out the days of Lot as a model for the time of His return. However the second, and most glaring, description of Sodom is that it was filled with the sin of homosexuality. The men of Sodom wanted the 'men' that had come to Lot's house. In fact, they wanted them so bad that they tried to break down the door to get them, and, according to their own words, they wanted them just to have sex with them. They would not even accept the offer of Lot's daughters. Nope. They burned in lust for the men that had come to town.
So where does that leave us today?
Jesus likened the days of his return unto the days of Lot. What do we know about the days of Lot other than the rampant homosexuality that marked it? Isn't it odd that we do not know much more about it? I do not think so. In fact, I believe that it is exactly what Jesus was referring to.
The homosexual agenda has been pushing at us for decades with a marked increase in recent years. MTV has been a big factor in pushing it on shows like The Real World and Road Rules. Numerous TV shows, plays and even music stars have been instrumental in advance the homosexual lifestyle upon the world. However, it really seems that there has been a definitive increase in recent weeks. It is as if a line has been crossed, or a dam has been breached and the flood of homosexuality has begun to fill the world. I believe that the dam that broke was the Church.
The big news recently was the appointment of the so-called "Gay Bishop". Deluded statements like, "Once again Jesus has turned Good Friday into Easter Sunday" (quoted by Gene Robinson on the day of his appointment), and "We have come to the conclusion as a Church that homosexuality is not wrong. It is just another of the many ways that God expresses himself through man." (in a statement made days earlier regarding the so-called 'Heresy Meeting' days before the appointment by a Episcopalian Church leader).
I do not think that many folks realize the spiritual significance of this story. This should never have even come up for discussion. This was the last frontier for the homosexual agenda friends and now it has been reached! The moral implications not withstanding, the legal implications are going to be very grave indeed. The door is wide open for the homosexual lifestyle to permeate every aspect of society now.
You may have noticed that right on the heels of the bishop appointment were a flurry of TV shows on both cable networks and regular television (to use a phrase lightly). Many more are being advertised for the upcoming season as well. You see, that is the whole point. Now that Satan has officially sanctioned the homosexual lifestyle in the Church, what is holding back the same agenda in the world? Every church is now going to be expected, probably forced, to allow homosexuals to be placed in ministry positions. We can not only expect the flood to fill the obvious demonic controlled areas of society, but now the Church as well. Surely Jesus is coming for his Bride!
Is there anything wrong with homosexual sex? Many today actually believe that it is fine, if homosexuals just keep it to themselves. Well, what does the Word of God have to say about it?
Leviticus 20:13
If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.
It seems pretty clear what God thinks about the act of gay sex. But that was Old Testament some would say...
Romans 1 gives us an overall description of the fate of those who reject God and His salvation through Jesus Christ...
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.
27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting.
And later we read that homosexuals will not enter in to Heaven unless they repent of their homosexual sins and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
I Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
Again in I Timothy 1:10
10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine.
I think the Bible is pretty clear, don't you?
The problem isn't with homosexuality exclusively. You can replace that sin with any from the list, it simply doesn't matter. Sin is sin is sin! That is the key to this whole thing. However, the elusion to the days of Lot by Jesus Christ, and the delusion that is spreading in the world today are unmistakably linked to the homosexual lifestyle. Thus it is the issue that needs to be dealt with today.
As followers of and believers in Jesus Christ we must be compassionate and seek every opportunity to extend the Gospel to all sinners. Homosexuals do not need to be reminded of their specific sins, but rather that their sins are forgiven through the blood of Jesus, should they want it and confess that Jesus is Lord.
For those who are watching the skies and looking for Christ's return, this impending flood is inching oh so much closer. The great rescuing of the Church is surely nigh. Keep the faith saints, and do not bend on the essentials of the faith. The degree of sin being displayed may be perceived as worse than any other, but it is still just sin. We were all guilty before we received the grace of God. Don't forget that God dearly loves the sinner and does not have any joy in the death of the wicked. He loves the homosexual just as much as any other, so much that he sent his Son to die for them too...

Mark,
It must be amazing to be so sure and so absolute about what is good and evil. I, on the other hand, do not see this amazingly complex world in the black and white that you do. And without that certainty, I hesitate to judge others as you feel so comfortable doing. But I am comfortable leaving ultimate judgment to God. Your interpretation of the Bible is your interpretation and you are welcome to believe whatever you want. You are not welcome, however, to impose those beliefs on others. That is the beauty of this country. You can live your life as rigidly close to your interpretation of the Bible as you please and no one has the right to stop you or judge you.
You know Mark, I come from a perspective that you shall never come from, that of a mother. And making this amazing journey has only strengthened my belief in God. He blessed me with the gift of 3 beautiful children. I put my heart and soul into being the best mother I could. To do otherwise would have been an affront to Him. The love my husband and I have for each of these children is so intense it is scary. And I know them as no one shall ever know them. And I know that my son did not choose to be something that would earn him a lifetime of wrath and profound hatred from people like you.
I believe with all my heart that my children’s sexual orientation was decided by God long before they were even born. As I watched my middle son grow up, I absolutely knew he was different. I did not know at first what was different, but I knew he was not like other children. And he knew it too – at a very young age. I watched helplessly as he struggled with something that, in the very early years, neither of us could identify. As he grew older I started suspecting that he might be gay. There were signs. And Mark, when he was old enough to realize what it was that differentiated him from others, he fought it with an all-encompassing ferocity that nearly drowned him in despair. It was a battle he could not win. He was and is just what God intended him to be: gay. He has finally reached his peace with both his sexual orientation and his God. You do not need to save him. He will live his life as a good human being and take his chances with God on judgment day.
Mark, I believe in a just and loving God and I do not believe a just and loving God would instill within a child something evil and irreversible and expect that child to spend the rest of his or her life fighting it. No amount of Bible verses will change my mind on that. God loves my son as much as he loves you. And God will continue loving my son even when he falls in love and commits to someone.
Please, find some other cause towards which you can direct your energies. You are losing this battle. Your passions would be much better invested in trying to help those less fortunate. And if you need help finding the many, many Bible passages that talk about that, just let me know.
Mark, I believe in a just and loving God and I do not believe a just and loving God would instill within a child something evil and irreversible and expect that child to spend the rest of his or her life fighting it.
I agree, God would not instill in us anything irreversible. That is why He gave us Christ. This is not about making your son "straight". There is ample sexual sin in that crowd as well.
It must be amazing to be so sure and so absolute about what is good and evil.
It is not easy. It requires God's word, the Holy Bible and actually reading and studying it daily. It also requires us to submit to His will, not our own worldy experiences and reasoning. Christ taught us that.
I do not hate anyone. I hate the "man picked" sins we accept as Holy and God given! Same sex attractions is indeed complicated. So is all of life and our battles with the forces of evil and all types of sin. Your son is not evil! He is no less the affection of God's eye than I.
He blessed me with the gift of 3 beautiful children. I put my heart and soul into being the best mother I could. To do otherwise would have been an affront to Him.
Actually, the only "affront" to God would be putting your children or anything else First, and God second.
The love my husband and I have for each of these children is so intense it is scary.
It should not be scary, if your love for God was put above your children, husband, or anything else. God owns everything, you own nothing. If that is not true for you, you serve another Master.
And I know that my son did not choose to be something that would earn him a lifetime of wrath and profound hatred from people like you.
Like I said, I do not hate your son or anyone else that embraces their brokeness. How could I? We are all are broken until we come to the cross of Christ. It is only at the cross of Christ we can be restored in Him. That does not mean we hold up our brokeness as holy and righteous before God. Otherwise Jesus suffered in vain for us. If we believe that, we condemn ourseleves.
You do not need to save him. He will live his life as a good human being and take his chances with God on judgment day.
No human can save another human! No man or woman is "good" in God's eye. We only become blameless when we put our faith in Christ and live for Him. A saved man or woman will not be 'judged'. We should look forward to spending eternity with God! not take 'our chances'. A saved person also lives by God's law, not rewriting it or ignoring it. A saved man lives it, and lives it with complete assurance and his acts show it.
No amount of Bible verses will change my mind on that. God loves my son as much as he loves you. And God will continue loving my son even when he falls in love and commits to someone.
That is where you have been fooled. The Bible's teachings are your only hope. Yes, God loves your son, me, and every person on earth the same!
Love does Not equate to sexual expresion! To accept a same gender sexual relationship, is accepting an imitation Love! and completely outside of God's precious sexual gift and boundaries for our lives!
The mere physical incompatibility of the act itself, should cause one to reject this as a design from God.
Please, find some other cause towards which you can direct your energies. You are losing this battle. Your passions would be much better invested in trying to help those less fortunate. And if you need help finding the many, many Bible passages that talk about that, just let me know.
I'll let that one slide. You are a Mother and I respect you. I hope you will consider my thoughts and continue to pray for God's will, not your own. Thank you for allowing me time on your blog.
May God bless you and yours!
PS If you cannot ask God to bless the the very Act of your sexual expression of "love", then it is Not of God. If you cannot ask God to Bless anything we do, then it is Not of God. If it is Not of God, it is founded in Satan's destructive lure. The sexual expressions of One Man and One woman in marriage, can be prayed for God's blessings.
Mark, I am afraid you’ve picked the wrong place to try and make your case. When I started this blog it was to provide a safe forum for confused and wounded parents like myself to try and make sense of it all. And sadly, so much of our confusion and so many of our wounds are inflicted by people who use the bible to justify their hatred, cruelty, and homophobia.
I do not expect you to understand. I don’t know if you or someone you love has ever been the victim of extreme hatred by people who profess to be good Christians, but it is very confusing and painful. I speak for only myself when I say that finding out I had a gay son turned my whole world upside down and not because he was gay, but because people could hate him so intensely in the name of Jesus. That is something I must grapple with and sadly right now, the bible seems to be the source of so much of that pain.
I believe you to be sincere, but if you are looking for a place to change hearts and minds, it probably won’t be here.
wow.
You are right, I don't know your pain. I do however know pain as well. I hurt for you, becuase I know hurt. We are one in Christ and we are called to carry each others burdens and share in our joys.
I don’t know if you or someone you love has ever been the victim of extreme hatred by people who profess to be good Christians, but it is very confusing and painful.
I am a victim of that as well... at the hands of the one's who were suppose to take care of me. "Professing Christians" means Nothing! Christ taught us many will profess in his name and be His enemy. He also told us His word is the only hope, the only way! Not changed by man to accomadate our earthly feelings. I think you know that.
I speak for only myself when I say that finding out I had a gay son turned my whole world upside down and not because he was gay, but because people could hate him so intensely in the name of Jesus. That is something I must grapple with and sadly right now, the bible seems to be the source of so much of that pain.
You are not responsible for your son's battles with any sin. Christ restores us, turning to Him is the only hope to be reconciled back to wholeness and one with God. Do not let the evils of so called "christians" turn you away from God! That is an excuse whispered in your ear by satan himself and too easy for us to listen to.
The Bible is a source of pain right now because you have been confronted by the Holy Spirit living in you. Do not do what the fallen world tells you to do, do what God tells you to do. Do not be confused with feelings, stay concentrated on God's word. Get out of the boat and walk on water!
Do not hold any form of sexual brokeness or any other sin up before God as Holy and Righteous, no matter how right it feels! That is a grave mistake before a God so Holy and Just, a glimpse of Him would kill us in a milli-second.
Take on the battle with the armor of Christ. Do not take it to the worldly streets in pride. You will lose, and so will those that follow your lead.
Please know, I am praying for you specifically. Let me know if you would ever like to exchange emails or phone calls on my dime. I would be happy to listen and pray with you.
God Bless.
